Our Vision
A quality educational program reflects the following:
- An integrated, authentic, negotiated, inquiry based curriculum that uses technology
to support learning
- Parents as partners in the education of their children
- Advisory and peer mediation programs designed to support and nurture the emotional
and social development of students and help students develop alternative nonviolent
strategies to resolve conflicts
- An inclusion program which integrates special education students into all aspects
of the general educational environment
- A curriculum that fosters an awareness and understanding of the breadth of human cultures
- An internship program that exposes students to real life experiences and possible
career choices and that helps students develop good work habits and refine job interests
- A teacher led school where teachers are empowered to make decisions about curriculum,
instruction, and all aspects of the school
Mission Statement
The mission of BPHS is to provide a student-centered, experiential,
democratic, collaborative, challenging environment where students develop respect
for themselves and others. Students take an active role in the development of
a positive and nurturing school community. Graduates will be able to pursue careers
or post secondary education, but all will be lifelong learners as well as productive
citizens in our society. We provide an environment where teachers and students
work cooperatively to enhance their learning.
We are committed to model and develop behavior that reflects and contributes
to the character development of our students.
